Cheek Implants

Cheek implants or cheek augmentation is a facial implant surgery that is intended to improve the overall contour of the patient’s face. The plastic surgery procedure is often combined with other facial surgeries which include jaw implants, cheek implants and a face lift.

The patient will most likely be put to sleep prior to the operation using general anesthesia. The plastic surgeon will then make an incision to the inside of the patient’s mouth and in some cases to the inside of their lower eyelid. The implant is inserted and positioned on the cheekbone by the surgeon. Any openings are usually closed with absorbable sutures and the patient begins their road to recovery.

Recovering from cheek implants is relatively the same as other facial implants. For the first couple of days there will be some pain accompanied by swelling and bruising which can last anywhere from a week to several. The patient is advised to take a week off of work to rest and recover.
