A Buttock implant is a cosmetic surgery procedure intended to add volume to the posterior region of a man or woman. Butt implants are often confused with a butt lift which is a different surgical procedure which is designed to lift and shape the buttock rather than add volume.
Buttock implants are made of a leak proof elastic polymer material which is much stronger than breast implants. They are inserted through small 2-3 inch incisions made above the buttocks around the midline of the patient. The surgeon will lift the buttock muscle upward in order to create pockets just large enough to fit the implants inside of. The surgeon will then carefully inspect each buttock to make sure they are the proper shape and are symmetrical before closing the incisions. Bandages are applied and the patient is usually sent home a couple of hours after the surgery.
Recovery is a little more difficult with a butt implant than with other cosmetic procedures. Since the butt is used in some many human activities, the recovery can be quite painful. It is recommended that patients who wish to receive butt implants are mentally prepared to deal with the discomfort. The cost of this surgery varies greatly and can range anywhere from $3,000-$10,000 typically.
