      About the Practice

      A picture of RBell

      Robert Bell,

Bariatric (weight loss) surgery involves changes to the gastrointestinal tract that help limit the amount of food you eat and limit the number of calories and nutrients you absorb. Summit Medical Group offers 2 effective weight-loss surgeries, including sleeve gastrectomy and gastric bypass. Sleeve gastrectomy involves narrowing the capacity of the stomach to limit the number of calories you eat and slow the passage of food through the stomach so that you feel full longer. Gastric bypass involves reducing the size of the stomach and bypassing the small intestine to limit the number of calories you eat and promote hormonal changes to improve diseases and conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure (hypertension), and high cholesterol. The procedures are performed with minimally invasive (laparoscopic) techniques to minimize pain and help you recover as quickly as possible. In addition to our state-of-the-art weight loss surgery procedures, we also help you schedule other medical appointments you need to qualify for weight loss surgery. Whenever possible, we schedule your appointments on the same day.
