Mini Tummy Tuck (Partial Abdominoplasty)

Mini Tummy Tuck Surgery is a cosmetic surgery performed in order to remove excess skin below the naval. Partial abdominoplasty is performed by making a medium size incision just above the patient’s pubic area and an even smaller incision around the naval. The skin is pulled back and the abdominal wall is sutured together in order to strengthen the abdomen and create a slimmer look for the patient. Often liposuction below the naval is performed in conjunction with the mini tummy tuck. This reduces the size of the love handles. Next the plastic surgeon will pull down the skin, stretching it along the abdominal wall removing any excess skin. A new hole is made for the belly button and any open incisions are closed with stitches or staples. Mini tummy tucks are far less invasive than their counterpart the full tummy tuck. Surgery typically takes 1-2 hours for a mini tummy tuck. The patient will experience discomfort and swelling after the operation. It is recommended that only light activities be performed for at least 2 weeks after the surgery.
