Limited Breast Lift (Modified Breast Lift)

The limited breast lift often referred to as a modified breast lift, is a plastic surgery procedure that is intended to improve the overall shape and appearance of a women’s breasts. The limited breast lift is a modification of the full breast lift in that it requires fewer and smaller incisions. The limited breast lift provides for a quicker recovery time and a smaller risk of unfavorable scarring. The surgery is often accompanied by breast implants to provide the most desirable results for the patient.

The procedure is typically done by making an incision around the nipple. The excess skin is pulled tight and removed in the shape of a doughnut prompting the common phrase of this procedure: doughnut mastopexy. The skin is then reattached to the breast creating a firmer look. The modified breast lift is not intended for everyone, usually women with smaller breasts or those who require far less modification will be candidates for a limited breast lift. The cost is typically less than the full breast lift and the surgery and recovery time are also shorter.

Talking with your plastic surgeon about which type of breast lift is right for you is imperative. If you find that you are able to achieve your results with the limited type of surgery than you will have the luxury of experiencing far less discomfort. We recommend that you speak with more than one surgeon before having any type of procedure performed on you.
